The yeast is dated end of 2024.

At the turn of the 19th century a very special beer was brewed for the dockyard workers of the bustling Port of London. Docklands Porter was named after the strong men who unloaded cargo from the ships berthed at the many wharves along the Thames. Porter had a uniquely rich, satisfying flavour which quenched the thirst of dockers after long, hard shifts. Now you can recapture the unique taste of Victorian Porter. The distinctive light hop character, full malt flavour and rich colour is achieved by using only the finest roasted malts.

These kits are made from premium malts produced at our own maltings in Stowmarket, Suffolk – The very heart of the granary of England. the malt is crushed, mashed and sparged to extract the true brewers wort, to which we add hops before boiling. Finally we evaporate the wort to concentrate the liquid into a viscous form. When you make beer from a Muntons Gold kit you simply replace the water that we have removed and then carry on the traditional practise of brewing. The beer you make will taste great within weeks, but will also mature with age.

To appreciate this superb quality, try to keep a few bottles aside for 6 months or so.

Contains 3Kg of beer malt. This beer kit does not require any initial brewing sugar or malts. Prime as you would any other beer kit.

HOW TO CALCULATE THE ABV (Alcohol By Volume) for Beers and Ales

1 – If you use 1kg of spitting Feathers’ brewing sugar you will produce a good quality beer with avg of 4.5 to 5% ABV.

OR

2 – If you were to use 1kg (2x500gs) of dry malt extract (DME) – the colour appropriate to the type of beer (see colour guide below), you will produce a beer slightly higher in ABV yet at the same time retaining its body.

OR The Spitting-Feathers’ RECOMMENDATION!

3 – However, we recommend to you, to use 1.5kg of unhopped liquid malt extract (LME) – again the colour appropriate to the type of beer being made (see colour guide below).

The use of a LME will undoubtedly produce a beer of pure quality, depth, body and flavour than options 1 or 2 above. The ABV will be determined by the use of a hydrometer
